Publication and Citation of Scientific Primary Data

The project "Publication and Citation of Scientific Primary Data" (STD-DOI) was funded by the German Science Foundation. Its aim was to make primary scientific data citeable as publications. In this system, a data set would be attributed to its investigators as authors like it would be done for a work in the conventional scientific literature. Thus, scientific primary data should not exclusively understood as part of a scientific publication, but may have its own identity. The project was funded for the period Oct 2006 to April 2009.

A successor project "Centre of Competence for Research Data in the Geosciences" was launched in August 2011. More information can be found at the new project website http://www.komfor.net.
